METADATA, GIS AND In partnership with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), funding opportunities are provided for American Indians to attend the following classes at the FWS National Conservation Training Center (NCTC), in support of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure: TEC7112 - GIS Introduction for Conservation Professionals -June 14-16, 2004, Aug. 11-13, 2004, October 5-7, 2004, February 15-17, 2005, May 23-25, 2005 TEC7132 - GPS Introduction for Natural Resource Field Personnel - June 17-18, 2004, March 30-April1, 2005, September 7-9, 2005 Funding covers tuition and per diem (food and lodging) at the FWS NCTC in Shepherdstown, WVA Air Fare and rental car must be provided by the participant. Failure to cancel within 2 weeks of the class, will prohibit you from enrolling in classes with FWS for one year. For application and funding information contact:

FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, In partnership with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), funding opportunities are provided for American Indians to attend the following classes in support of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure: E580-Emergency Management Framework for Tribal Governments- August 2-6, 2004, March 7-10, 2005 Funding covers air fare, tuition and per diem (food and lodging) at EMI. The course provides a basic understanding of emergency management principles and their role in leading and directing their Tribes in implementing comprehensive emergency management systems. Topics include getting a program started, concept of emergency management and the four phases, analysis of hazards, resources, developing an emergency operations plan, roles of the emergency manager, and upgrading and sustaining emergency management capabilities. A shuttle bus service is provided from Baltimore-Washington, Reagan National and Dulles Airports. Rental cars are not included. E313 - Basic Hazus Multi-Hazards, September 13-16, 2004, October 4-7, 2004, February 14-17, 2005 Provides GIS specialists in emergency management with skills and knowledge to use HAZUS-MH methodology and development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
