11/9/2004: Kodiak Refuge Sets Application Dates for 2005 Karluk River Limited Entry Permits
Kodiak Refuge announces the 2005 Limited Entry Permit program for Karluk River and Karluk Lake.   During the peak of the king salmon run (June 10 to July 15), an unguided visitor will need a Limited Entry Permit from the Refuge. The Refuge will accept Limited Entry Permit application in two forms:  First, individuals and party leaders can apply online at http://alaska.fws.gov/KarlukRiverApp/.

11/9/2004: Federal Court Sentences Three to Fines and Probation For Violations of State and Federal Hunting Laws
A federal court in Benton, Illinois has ordered three southern Illinois men to pay fines totaling $3,000 and serve terms of probation totaling two years for violating federal and state hunting laws. Woodrow pled guilty to the charge of placing bait for the purpose of hunting migratory game birds and was sentenced to a12-month term of probation and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine. 11/8/2004: Plan to Restore Tobico Marsh Completed
A final plan for restoring 900-acre Tobico Marsh near Bay City is complete, calling for measures that will improve fish passage between Saginaw Bay and Tobico Marsh and minimize the risk of flooding to nearby residents. Fish move between the bay and the marsh for spawning, so enhancing fish passage will benefit fish populations, especially those of northern pike. 11/2/2004: New Refuge Manager at Alabama’s Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge Begins Job With a Daunting Task -- Cleaning Up After Hurricane Ivan
When Robert Cail became the new refuge manager of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge on September 24, he really faced a challenge. A six-year veteran of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Cail was Refuge Manager at the Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex in Georgia before coming to Bon Secour. Cail joined the Service in 1998 as Assistant Refuge Manager at the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge in Arizona.
