October 4-8, 2004 - American Association for Aerosol Research, 23rd Annual Conference to be held in Atlanta, Georgia. October 11-14, 2004 - Industrial Applications of Renewable Resources: A Conference on Sustainable Technologies to be held in Chicago, Illinois. The technical program will feature invited speakers from the industry. October 25-29, 2004 - Regional and Global Perspectives on Haze: Causes, Consequences and Controversies to be held in Asheville, NC. This international conference will provide a technical forum to present advances in the scientific understanding of the effects of air pollution on regional, continental and global scale haze phenomena. The conference will specifically address: emission sources, atmospheric conditions, and aerosol characteristics associated with large scale haze events; innovative monitoring, assessment and modeling methods applied to haze; and air quality management implications. One or more regional haze-related professional courses, designed to provide both a technical foundation and a timely refresher, with be offered on-site prior to the conference (October 24th). November 9-12, 2004 - ACIA International Scientific Symposium on Climate Change in the Arctic to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland. The ACIA International Scientific Symposium on Climate Change in the Arctic will address a variety of issues connected to climate change in the circumpolar Arctic and its environmental and societal consequences, including:
  • the Arctic climate system and its role in the global climate system;
  • past, present and future changes in physical and biological systems;
  • impacts of a changing climate on human activities, such as health care, fisheries agriculture, forestry, infrastructure, hunting and gathering;

June 20-24, 2005 - 5th International Scientific Conference on the Global Energy and Water Cycle taking place in Orange County, CA. The overall theme of the 5th International Scientific Conference on the Global Energy and Water Cycle is Observing and predicting the Earth's water and energy cycle: current state of knowledge and future research requirements. Results from field experiments, new developments in theory, and modeling and observational capability that are being undertaken in the context of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) and other related activities, are expected to be reported. Particular emphasis will be on the linking of disciplines such as coupled atmospheric and land surface models, and cross discipline studies. The advances in scientific knowledge presented will provide new information to assess the impact of climate on water resource management.
