Eastern States is the custodian of over five million title documents.
The General Land Office Automated Records Project is responsible for
making these important documents available on the Internet.
The initial phase of this project has completed with two million eastern records
issued between 1820 and 1908 now available on this website.
The GLO Records Automation staff is currently adding eastern and western patents issued after June 30, 1908.
This effort is expected to last through 2004.
Additional patents bound in miscellaneous volumes will be added as a later time.
The original documents are now stored in acid-free boxes and protected in fireproof
temperature-controlled vaults,
ensuring the preservation of this vital component of American heritage. |
