Getting Started with the Gov Online Learning Center

The Gov Online Learning Center (GoLearn) is located at www.golearn.gov. This site contains numerous features such as e-Training courses, Search & Select, e-Mentoring, Books 24x7, and a Resource Center. The first page of the site explains the three ways for navigating the site and reaching these features. The three ways for navigating are: using the doors on the lobby graphic; using the floor plan; and using hot text links.

New User Registration Form
Before you can access either of the Telework courses, you must complete the online New User Registration Form. Go to www.golearn.gov. It can be reached by clicking the New User tab on the top navigation bar. The form is the first item. The following is a brief overview of the registration info:

First, tell us a little about yourself and how we can contact you. Enter your last name, first name, email address, and social security number. Your social security number is treated as a confidential piece of information. An easy link to the GoLearn site Privacy Act Statement is located beside the entry for the Social Security Number.

NOTE: Your Social Security Number (SSN) is your unique identifier and is protected by encryption after registration. You cannot access or change your SSN after registering. Your SSN allows tracking of all courses completed through the duration of your career progression regardless of the employer.

Second, tell us a little about where you work. Select your organization from the pull down menu. Fill in your agency from the pull down menu and type in your division/ office name. Finally, select a state from the pull down menu and then enter your zip and country.

Third, tell us a little about your position. The date you entered on duty as a Federal employee (EOD) should be entered as mm/yyyy (e.g., 12/2000). The date you entered into your current position (EOP) should be entered as mm/yyyy (e.g., 12/2002). Select a Pay Plan (e.g., GS for General Schedule) from the pull down menu. Enter your Pay Grade and Series in the appropriate boxes. There is an alphabetical listing of occupational series titles with the corresponding occupational code. Next, use the pull down menu to complete your supervisory status and contractor status. NOTE: Contractors need to provide their company name and should fill out the registration form completely. EOD and EOP dates would be how long you have been working as a contractor with the Federal government. Pay plan should be filled in as 'other' and pay plan can be N/A. Please select the job series that reflects the work you do with the government.

When you complete the Registration form, click Create. You will get a confirmation email shortly from GoLearn@GeoLearning.com with a link and instructions on how to activate your account. You must respond to the e-mail from GeoLearning within 7 days and create your password. If not, your link we expire.

The personal information (except for your Social Security number) that you shared on the registration form may be changed at any time. Simply log on to the Gov Online Learning Center and select the My Courses tab on the Navigation Bar Lobby page. Next, select the Personal Info tab. Your User Profile information will be displayed so that you can make updates to your personal information as required. When complete, select the Update button at the bottom on the screen.

Select the Course
To register for the either of the Telework courses, you should first log on with your email and password (located at the top banner of the GoLearn site). Next, click on the Full Catalog button on the top navigation bar, you will see the first page of the Catalog. Helpful Tools
We recommend that you begin by clicking the New User tab on the top navigation bar. This will provide you with an overview and will take you to the GOLC New User Registration form. Another helpful tool on the GOLC site is the Frequently Asked Questions (http://www.golearn.gov/About/index.cfm) tab. You will find commonly asked questions about the site, administrative topics, and technical concerns. The Help Desk (http://www.golearn.gov/1-l3.cfm) (which can be reached from the floor plan or the hot text link) contains technical updates and information such as computer system requirements and plug-in installations. Once you log into the GOLC site, you can view the User Guide and get technical assistance. In addition, the What's New tab announces the addition of new e-Training products and services including two special communities and two coming attraction previews!
