Facilitating A Dialogue Between the NSDI and Utility Companies

Description: This presentation describes some of the unique characteristics
of utility companies - primarily gas and electric - and their role and
relationship to the ongoing National Spatial Data Infrastructure effort.
The presentation describes the application of geospatial technology in
protecting our critical infrastructure, particularly in the areas of assessment,
prevention, response, recovery, detection and preparedness. Homeland Security,
natural disasters and damage prevention are addressed in a continuum of
CIP planning.

Report of the Study Mission to the Road Administration Information
Center in Japan
Presentation Date: May 25, 2004
Description: This presentation provides an overview of the findings and
observations of a Study Mission team organized by the Geospatial Information
& Technology Association (GITA) to visit the ROADIC organization in
Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese National Government has long supported this
multi-organizational approach to managing that nation's critical infrastructure.
The resulting report of the Study Mission team concludes that the model
can be adapted for use in North America.
