    Feasibility of Evaluating the State Court Improvement Program Volume II: Evaluability Assessment Site Visit Summaries

    These evaluability assessments were completed through a contract awarded in the Fall of 2001 by the Children's Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to determine the feasibility of evaluating state Court Improvement Program (CIP) projects.

  • State Child Welfare Legislation: 2002-2003
    This report describes significant State legislation related to child welfare issues that was enacted during calendar years 2002-2003 and includes citations and summaries of specific child-welfare-related laws in each State. The report, produced through the Children's Bureau's Technical Assistance to State Legislators on the Child and Family Services Reviews Project, follows up on a previous report by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), State Child Welfare Legislation: 2001.

  • National Study of Child Protective Services Systems and Reform Efforts
    The Administration for Children and Families in the Department of Health and Human Services released the first national study that describes the policies and practices used by state child protective services agencies. The report includes a review of written policies in all states and the District of Columbia and a survey of 300 counties to determine how they run their child protective services programs.

  • School-Based Child Maltreatment Programs: Synthesis of Lessons Learned describes the efforts of 11 demonstration projects funded by the Office on Child Abuse and Neglect at the Children's Bureau. The synthesis identifies the general service approaches taken, as well as outcomes, challenges, and key lessons learned about how child maltreatment identification, prevention, and intervention efforts can be enhanced through the involvement of a school or school system.

  • The National Evaluation of Family Support Final Report synthesizes and analyzes the body of research on family support programs and answers several questions related to the impact of these programs on children and families.
