IMMIGRANT VISAS

All non-U.S. citizens who want to live in the United States permanently must obtain immigrant visas. The American Embassy in Tokyo and the Consulate General in Naha are the only posts in Japan that issue immigrant visas. Individuals wishing to file immigrant visa petitions must arrive at the Consulate between 8:30 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. Monday through Thursday. Only individuals living in Okinawa and Amami Island may apply in Naha.

Final immigrant visa applications (including interviews and issuance ) are by appointment only. PLAN AHEAD! Please request interview appointment dates at least 6 weeks in advance. Fax your request to our office at 098-876-4243. The request needs to include the name of applicant, maiden name of applicant if applicable, phone number, fax number and PSC or departure dates to the U.S. The Consulate is closed on American and Japanese holidays.
