The Department is recruiting on-line through the Department of
Personnel for a full-time, Program Coordinator 2 vacancy in the
Community Services Division, Children's Services Unit. In order to be
considered for this position, applicants must meet the following
special requirements (in addition to the minimum qualifications):
(J86) Four year degree in early childhood education, human services,
social work, or developmental psychology, and one year of direct
professional level work experience in an early childhood setting,
which involves holding a position such as: program administrator,
classroom teacher, therapeutic aide, OR family support/health services

Access to Recovery Substance Abuse Treatment Grants Awarded
President Bush today announced $100 million in Access to Recovery grants to provide people seeking drug and alcohol treatment with vouchers for a range of appropriate community-based services. Here in Region 10, Idaho and Washington will be receiving grant awards.
Idaho — Awarded $7.6 million per year for each of three years for a total of approximately $22.8 million. The Idaho program is designed to expand the state’s continuum of treatment services. It will reach people currently not able to receive services. The program will provide the state’s first opportunity to self-select a provider from a menu of assessment, clinical treatment and recovery support service providers. Idaho is involving faith community recovery advocates, community and tribal health clinics, community and tribal social services providers and state services in its system.
Washington — Awarded $7.6 million per year for each of three years for a total of approximately $22.8 million. The state plans to utilize its Access to Recovery grant to provide clinical drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services to low-income individuals in crisis who are involved with Child Protective Services, shelters and supported housing, free and low income medical clinics and community detoxification programs. The program will offer a full range of treatment services and increase the number of providers trained and qualified to offer recovery services, particularly faith-based.

Head Start T&TA One-Time Funding Opportunity
The Head Start Bureau has sent a letter to all Head Start and Early Head Start Grantees inviting them to apply for up to $4,000 in one-time T&TA funds to improve program governance. New version of GABI released
The American Institutes for Research (AIR) has released version 3.0.0 of GABI, the software used by Head Start and Early Head Start Grantees to prepare applications. Grantees are encouraged to visit http://www.acfgabi.com to download the new version and manual before preparing their applications.

The Head Start Bureau, in collaboration with the Family and Youth Services Bureau, is pleased to announce a supplemental funding opportunity for Head Start and Early Head Start programs to involve youth in providing Head Start and Early Head Start services. Effective October 1, 2003, all applicants for ACF grants are required to provide a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number when applying for Federal grants.
