The President's FY 2002 budget includes a new $64 million program to strengthen the role of fathers in the lives of their children. State, faith-based, and community programs will be funded to provide services which will help increase the self-sufficiency of unemployed or low-income fathers and their families, promote successful parenting, and strengthen marriage. In addition, the President's budget includes a new $67 million program called Mentoring Children of Prisoners to help maintain the bond between parent's and children during a parent's imprisonment.
