Cooperative Agreements Program: Web Map Service Resources

Beginning in Fiscal Year 2000, several CAP awards have been made to projects in order to test and refine the integration of the Clearinghouse (searchable metadata) and OpenGIS Consortium Web Map Services. The intention is to set up Clearinghouse searches in such a way that communities can locate not just data, but data associated with map services, and then render maps from more than one source in a Web-based viewer. Twelve projects to-date have been funded to integrate OGC Web Map Services into their local Clearinghouses to satisfy the need to access and visualize data from multiple servers within a community.
