Health
The
Office of Global Health Affairs (OGHA) has an intra-agency agreement
with the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
OGHA’s Office of Humanitarian and Refugee Health Affairs
provides policy support to ORR on matters pertaining to refugee
health, technical assistance to ORR and its grantees and affiliates
on health care activities, and conducts monitoring and evaluation
on select ORR grants.
OGHA’s Office of Humanitarian
and Refugee Health conducts technical assistance in the following
areas:

Organizing,
conducting and financing of health assessments
2.
Refugee
preventive health activities
3.
Data
management activities surrounding refugee health
4.
Medical
interpretation
5.
Available
prevention and promotion materials in refugee languages
6.
Information
on new refugee populations
7.
Staff
trainings
8.
Caring
for refugees with HIV and other special medical needs
9.
Providing/
promoting better communication with voluntary agencies, state
health coordinators and mutual assistance associations
10.
Monitoring
and evaluation for torture treatment centers
The
Office of Global Health Affairs coordinates refugee health policies
and activities in the United States across the Department of Health
and Human Services. It liaises with other Departments of the Federal
government whose activities concern refugees and with international
organizations engaged in health services to refugees. It assists
State governments with programs for health assessment and health
care of refugees resettled throughout the United States
