What American Citizen Services Cannot Do
- act as your lawyer, translator, interpreter, travel agent,
investigator, or law enforcement agent
- provide you or your family with physical protection
- negotiate with kidnappers
- arrange release from either Colombian or U.S. military service
obligations
- pay your debts or fines or interfere in judicial proceedings
- find you employment, residence or schools
- sort out property disputes
- search for missing luggage
- settle disputes with hotel managers and landlords
- discuss visa cases
