Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE)

Memorial Service for Dr. Frank Anger

October 22, 2004

Dr. Frank Anger was killed in a tragic automobile accident on July 7, 2004 while traveling on NSF business. He was Deputy Director of the Division of Computing and Communication Foundations in the Directorate of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Dr. Anger joined NSF in 1995 as a Program Director in the Division of International Programs. In 1996, he moved to CISE as Program Director of the Software Engineering and Languages program. In 2002, he assumed the position of Deputy Division Director of what is now the Division of Computing and Communication Foundations.

Frank is survived by his wife, Dr. Rita Rodriguez, who is also an NSF program director. Rita was critically injured in the accident but is recovering. They have three sons, Angel of Illinois, Gus of Kentucky, and Arthur of Florida, and four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Frank will be held on Friday, November 19 at 11:30 A.M. at the Hilton Arlington & Towers Hotel, 950 North Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22203. The Hilton is connected by covered skyway to the Ballston Common Mall as well as the National Science Foundation. Ronald Reagan National Airport is four miles away and the Ballston Metro Stop, which runs on the Metro's orange line, is located below the hotel.

Rita, her sons, and family members will be in attendance.
