History: Gasoline Prices: Bureau of LaborStatistics (BLS) survey prices: 1919-1979 leaded regular; 1980-1981: unleaded regular; 1982-1994: Energy Information Administration (EIA) data extrapolated using BLS survey data; 1995-current: EIA Surevy. Real (inflation adjusted prices) price data is deflated by the Consumer Price Index, source BLS, where year 2004 = 1. Forecast 2004-2005: Gasoline prices, current Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO). Forecasted Consumer Price Index, Global Insight.
