Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Division of Energy Assistance/OCS/ACF
Welcome to our
LIHEAP Consumer Support Center. The Center will help you find answers
to questions about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). In addition,
you can provide suggestions on how we might improve our web site to serve you
better. In most cases, our Support Center will be able to respond to your question
quickly. However, we are not available on weekends and Federal holidays to review
any questions needing further clarifications.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION: LIHEAP applications, eligibility, assistance, and benefit levels
vary among LIHEAP programs. The federal government does not send or take applications
for LIHEAP assistance. You must contact your State agency,
Indian trbe/tribal organizations, or Insular area
for information on qualifying for LIHEAP assistance. A number of State LIHEAP offices
provide toll free numbers and web sites for public inquiries.
In addition, you may contact the National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR)
project. NEAR is a free service for persons who want information on where to
apply for LIHEAP help. NEAR can be contacted by e-mail energyassistance@ncat.org
(please include your city, county and state along with your e-mail message) or by
using NEAR's toll-free phone number 1-866-674-6327 (or 1-866-NRG-NEAR).
