Technology Transfer at Argonne

Argonne 's Office of Technology Transfer is the laboratory's main liaison with outside research organizations for a variety of purposes, including:

• Cost-shared research and development
• Reimbursable R&D (Work-for-Others)
• Licensing 
• Technical assistance
• Personnel exchange

These programs enhance the laboratory's research and development, meet federal, national and international research needs, and increase the worldwide competitiveness of U.S. industry. Through these programs, industrial firms and other organizations – including federal, state and local governments and academic institutions –benefit from Argonne 's know-how and intellectual property in cutting-edge technologies, often leveraging their own in-house capabilities.

Central Shops

To support its world-class R&D programs, Argonne Central Shops Department operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing and machining facility to meet unique experimental and inspection needs. Export Control

Argonne 's export control Web site provides information and assistance in determining which, if any, restrictions apply to the export of sensitive technologies. While a significant portion of the laboratory's mission involves fundamental research and the communication of announced and developed technologies, Argonne also has an obligation to assure that particular sensitive technologies, equipment and information subject to export control regulations are exported in compliance with these regulations. In some instances, this means that exports cannot be made to certain foreign nationals or countries.
