Self-Funded Nonfederal Governmental Plans

A nonfederal governmental employer that sponsors a self-funded group health plan may elect to exempt its plan from most requirements of Title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act (as added by Title I of HIPAA and amended by subsequent legislation).
