Available EA's for Winter Exploration Drilling Program, NPR-A

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) on proposed winter exploratory drilling in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A).

On May 5, 1999, as one of the first steps in the implementation of the Integrated Activity Plan (IAP), BLM conducted an oil and gas lease sale. This sale resulted in the issuance of 133 leases for approximately $104.6 million in rentals and lease bonus bids. The remaining tracts were offered June 2002 amounting to approximately another $63.8 million. These EAs are tiered off of the more extensive IAP and evaluates site specific effects of the proposed exploratory drilling.  Exploratory drilling is the next step to implementing the Integrated Activity Plan (IAP) for the northeast corner of the NPR-A.

The Environmental Assessments and related documents are available in the links below.
