ABOUT US
Our Mission
The
Welfare Peer Technical Assistance Network facilitates the sharing
of information across State lines about "what works" and what does not
under welfare reform, and establishes linkages among organizations serving welfare
recipients and their partners at the State and community level. The Welfare
Peer Technical Assistance Network's Web site acts as a dissemination
and communications vehicle, supporting the Peer TA Network in the provision
of technical assistance, writing welfare reform issue briefs, and helping
organizations learn about innovative programs and effective strategies
to successfully move low-income families to employment and self-sufficiency.
Our
Services
Services
available on the Welfare Peer Technical Assistance Network's Web site
include:
-
Technical Assistance (TA): Public and private agencies providing services under the TANF program can request technical assistance using the online TA Request Form. Technical assistance opportunities include peer-to-peer site visits, workshops, and moderated teleconferences.
-
TA Summaries: Following each technical assistance event, a report highlighting the key lessons learned, innovative programs, and contact information are posted on the Web site.
-
What's New: New information on welfare-related legislation, funding announcements, research and resources, and events announcements is listed on the Web site.
-
Research and Resources: The Peer TA Network posts informational fact sheets, reports, bulletins, and other documents or links that will be of interest to professionals in the welfare reform field.
-
Innovative
Programs: TANF service providers are encouraged to use the online
form to electronically submit descriptions of innovative programs and
approaches for moving families out of welfare and into self-sufficiency.
Once submitted, the Peer TA Network posts the promising practices and
innovative approaches on the Web site to share the variety of innovative
methods that TANF funds may be used in providing services to families.
-
Q
& A: The Q & A section provides an area for professionals
implementing the TANF program to post questions and receive answers
from peers. These questions and answers are posted on the Web site,
allowing for ongoing information dissemination and the growth of a peer-to-peer
knowledge base.
-
Legislation and Policy:
The Peer TA Web site contains links to relevant pieces of legislation and policy
impacting professionals working on welfare reform efforts.
-
Events Calendar: The Peer TA Web site lists upcoming events (e.g., technical assistance events, workshops, and conferences) of interest to the welfare reform community, and includes contact and registration information for each event.
-
Newsletter: This section provides a newsletter on welfare related topics. The Peer TA Network will continue distributing an electronic newsletter on the issues that are of strong interest to states and localities.
-
Related
Links: These listings provide the names and live links to organizations
that provide relevant online information about welfare reform.
-
E-Mail Alert: You can subscribe to receive alerts (approximately monthly)
announcing information added to our What's New page, documents
recently included on our Policy Topics page, and approaching
nationwide conferences. The E-mail Alert will include short descriptions of items recently added to the Welfare Peer
TA Network's Web site, and will provide a link to each new item.
