Overview
Authorized by the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), the FTA International Mass Transportation Program (IMTP) helps the U.S. mass transportation industry to access international markets and has furthered the improvement of mass transit in the U.S. by highlighting overseas innovations. The IMTP consists of three major components:
- Trade Promotion
- Technology Transfer
- Human Capacity Building
The IMTP has provided several useful tools and opportunities for U.S. firms to enter international markets. Specifically, the IMTP created an invaluable resource guide, “Accessing the Global Marketplace: A Resource Guide for the Transit Industry” that companies can use to tap available government and private sector export assistance. In addition, working with the U.S. Commercial Service, the IMTP has generated many market research reports.
