Trade Promotion
The International Mass Transportation Program (IMTP) carries out trade missions and other trade-related events.
Examples:
- In July 2000, nine U.S. companies visited Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia to explore export opportunities.
- In August 2000, the IMTP participated in an ITS America trade mission to Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
- In August 2001, 10 U.S. companies were escorted on a trade mission to Thailand, Vietnam, China and Hong Kong.
- In December 2001, the IMTP organized a trade mission to Mexico.
- The IMTP created U.S. pavilions at the International Union of Public Transport’s City Transportation Exhibitions in London in 2001 and in Madrid in 2003.
In partnership with the American Public Transportation Association and the Department of Commerce, these trade missions and events provide participating companies unparalleled access to senior decision-makers in these foreign markets as well as one-on-one meetings with potential customers.
