Fast Stats is designed to allow quick and easy access to key statistics for
all major cancer sites by age, sex, race, and geographic area. The statistics
include incidence, mortality, prevalence, and the probability of developing or
dying from cancer.
Every page on the SEER Web site has a Fast Stats menu at the top. To use
Fast Stats, choose the cancer site you are interested in from the menu and click Go.
Incidence statistics will be shown by default. Use the left sidebar to select a different type of statistic.
You will be presented with a page containing a list of statistical tables and graphs, for that cancer site.
These reports are organized by registry, race, sex, and age.
Each specific category includes a number of links. Follow those links to view a
chart or graph of the statistics they describe. Another link on the output pages
leads to the same statistics in text-only format.
Users who find the choices available in Fast Stats too limiting should
use the Cancer Query System instead. The Cancer Query
System is more complex than Fast Stats, which allows it to provide access to a wider
range of statistics, but some users may find it more difficult to use.
Both Fast Stats and the Cancer Query System are Web-based applications which
provide immediate access to statistics and
produce the output in the same format.
Users who need still more flexibility should
use SEER*Stat. SEER*Stat is the most powerful and complex
mechanism for obtaining cancer statistics that SEER offers. However, because it
provides direct access to individual cancer records, the user must sign a data
access agreement before using it. This typically involves a 24- to 48-hour delay
before data can be accessed. In addition, SEER*Stat users who have their own data
can use SEER*Prep to convert that data to the SEER*Stat
format.
In addition to the systems described above, SEER
reports and summarizes the key measures of cancer's impact on the U.S. population in a variety
of Statistical Publications.
