Solar Energy Technologies Program Review Meeting

Details: This meeting will review activities of the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technologies Program. All projects within the Solar Program will be represented, including those performed by the national laboratories -- the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. The Program's government, university, and industry partners will also be well represented. This will be a technical meeting with a clear emphasis on the innovative elements of the research and development. Details: The 2004 UWIG Technical Workshop will explore key issues related to deployment of wind energy in the Northeast and nationwide, and will include presentations and discussion on both large-scale (transmission-connected) and small-scale (distribution-connected) wind turbine installation experiences. Participants will learn about challenges and opportunities for integrating wind power to meet growing demands for clean energy and establish new sources of income for their communities. Fourth Energy Analysis Forum- "Understanding State and Regional Electricity Markets: Analytic Issues for Efficiency and Renewable Energy"

Details: This two-day event will bring together key decision makers and analysts to look at critical issues relating to the development of markets for renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The forum will focus on state and regional electricity markets, with an emphasis on policy issues, financing, and market opportunities and barriers. The forum sessions are a combination of presentations and group discussions, providing background on these analytic issues. On the second day, smaller "working groups" will discuss available tools and studies, and identify analytic needs. NREL Energy Analysis Office's Seminar Series - "Quantification of Environmental Benefits from EERE Technologies" - Russ Lee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Details: The NREL Energy Analysis Office hosts "brown bag" analytical seminars over the lunch hour on the second Thursday of every month. Topics focus on new and innovative renewable energy and energy efficiency analysis strategies, models, and technologies that are being developed at the Laboratory. The presentation takes place at NREL's Washington, D.C., office and is simultaneously videoconferenced to NREL's Golden, CO, office. For more information, visit Energy Analysis.

Due to security issues, if you are attending the Golden videoconference and are not an NREL or DOE Employee, you must check in at the NREL Site Entrance Building in Golden to receive a visitor badge and enter building 27. (For directions, visit Golden Laboratories and Offices. Please bring identification (i.e., driver's license, passport, military I.D., etc.).

If you wish to attend the Washington, D.C. seminar and do not have an "Aerospace Building" badge, you will have to sign in and receive a "visitor" badge. Visitors must sign in and show a photo ID. To expedite this procedure, please contact the Washington, D.C. office by 2 p.m. the day before the seminar. RSVP your name and affiliation to Wanda Addison or call 202-646-5278 or 202-646-5050.

For Foreign National Visitors, NREL's Security Office must have a completed and signed Foreign National Data Card at a minimum of three days prior to the visit. For foreign national details, contact Lynne D. Fenn at 303-384-7439.
