The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Phase I, 10-12 December 2003, Geneva

The global information society is evolving rapidly. The convergence of telecommunications, broadcasting multimedia, and information and communication technologies (ICTs) drives the development of new products and services, as well as ways of conducting business and commerce. The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) aims to bring together heads of state, executive heads of United Nations agencies, industry leaders, non-governmental organizations, media representatives, and civil society to develop a better understanding of global information society issues.
