The following organizations have received support from ASPE to conduct and report on research related to poverty:

• The Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin
• The Joint Center for Poverty Research of Northwestern University and the University of Chicago
• The National Poverty Center at the University of Michigan
• The Kentucky Center for Poverty Research at the University of Kentucky
• The RUPRI Rural Poverty Research Center at the University of Missouri

The Census Bureau is the federal agency that prepares statistics on the number of people in poverty in the United States.
