Breast Cancer
A research study of an investigational medication for the treatment of breast cancer. Volunteers who have histologically confirmed Stage IIIb or IV breast cancer that is refractory, defined as progression in the metastatic setting after prior therapy with anthracyclines, taxanes and capecitibine, may be eligible. Research sites located throughout the United States.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
A research study of an investigational medication for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Volunteers between the ages of 21 and 80 who have have been diagnosed with ALS, have had symptoms for no longer than three years, and have a lung vital capacity of 70% (or more) of normal may be eligible. Research sites located throughout the United States.

Thalassemia
A research study to determine the prevalence of low bone mass in patients with thalassemia (also known as Cooley's Anemia). Volunteers age six or older who have a diagnosis of beta thalassemia major (transfusion dependent or non-transfusion dependent), E/beta thalassemia or Hemoglobin H disease may be eligible. Research sites located throughout the United States.
