The Center for Faith-Based & Community InitiativesOverview of the HHS Grants ProcessPlease note that documents in PDF format require Adobe's Acrobat Reader The President's initiative is about leveling the playing field by removing barriers to the full participation of faith-based and community-based organizations so they have equal opportunity to participate in federally funded programs. Please note that there is no grant money specifically set aside for faith-based providers, nor will there be a separate fund established from the HHS Center. HHS discretionary grants are awarded competitively in response to program announcements and other requests for proposals or applications published by the Department in either the Federal Register, the HRSA Preview, or the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. Other funding sources are often available through your state, county, or city. A majority of HHS program dollars are sent directly to your Governor's office, state department of human services, or state health department for distribution. In addition to public sources, funding may be available from national and local private foundations and corporations.
