The Research Partners Committee of the Red River Valley Agricultural Research Center will hold their annual meeting in Fargo on December 1, 2004. The Committee is composed of 35 key customers/stakeholders with an interest in the research and technology transfer activities conducted at the location. The meeting will include updates from each research Unit and discussions of future research activities for the Center.
Third Annual Sclerotinia Initiative Meeting, Bloomington, Minnesota to be held January 18-20, 2005.
Marketplace for Kids to be held Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the FargoDome, in Fargo, North Dakota!
~PAST EVENTS~
ARS CELEBRATED 40 YEARS OF RED RIVER VALLEY AREA RESEARCH
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) celebrated 40 years of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) research in the Red River Valley on July 21, 2004. ARS is the USDA's chief scientific research agency.
The celebration was held at the ARS Red River Valley Agricultural Research Center near the campus of North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. Happy 40th Anniversary to the Biosciences Research Laboratory and also Happy 50th Anniversary to ARS. Scientists at the Center conducted research on new varieties of potatoes, sugar beets, sunflowers, wheat, barley and oats; grain quality tests; toxins in livestock; and insect and weed control.

Marketplace for Kids - May 2004!
USDA-ARS RRVARC Center to Particpate in "Marketplace for Kids":
Center staff participated in the Region 5 Farg-Moorhead Marketplace for Kids which was held at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota on May 5, 2004. Marketplace is a unique educational program for students in Grades 4,5,and 6. It provides young people wiht an opportunity to present and explain projects that demonstrated entrepreneurship, inovation, and creativity. Over 1,800 students attended the event which was sponsored by U.S. Senator Kent Conrad, North Dakota Commissioner of Agriculture Roger Johnson, and North Dakota Superintendent of Public Schools Instruciton, Wayne Sanstead.
