Objective:
Conduct research on germplasm conservation and evaluation relevant to the mission of the National Clonal Germplasm Repository, Davis, CA.

Approach:
Four projects pertinent to Repository operations will be conducted: (1) development and use of SSR markers for diversity analysis in almond and peach, (2) development of SSR database of grape cultivars, (3) phylogenetic analysis of Vitis by chloroplast genome polymorphism, and (4) development of PCR and ELISA assays for virus detection in grapes.
