Research Project: Hill Area Aquaculture

Location: Catfish Genetics Research

Project Number: 6402-31000-006-02
Project Type: Specific C/A

Start Date: Aug 01, 2000
End Date: Jul 30, 2005

Objective:
1)Conduct systems research to provide producers more options for management of aquatic animals in hill-areas. 2)Develop health management strategies or practices to control fish diseases. 3)Conduct research to enhance the aquatic environment to reduce environmental stress and improve production efficiency.

Approach:
Aquaculture in hill-areas have production problems that are different than the Delta area of the country. Solutions to problems associated with maintaining water quality, enhancing fish health through disease control and improving production systems will contribute to higher quality aquaculture products and reduced cost of production. The aquaculture producer will be more profitable by adopting the new technology.
