Objective:
To develop a new repellent compound against biting insects and other arthropod disease vectors through collaborative research between the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the Insect Chemical Ecology Laboratory.

Approach:
USDA will provide Laboratory space and supplies for a synthetic organic chemist. Establish a cooperative research and development agreement with an industrial partner who will provide support, help with formulation design, and commit to manufacture of the finished product.
