Objective:
THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT IS TO EVALUATE THE LONG TERM IMPACTS OF METHYL BROMIDE ALTERNATIVES ON TOMATO CROPPING SYSTEMS

Approach:
LARGE SCALE FIELD PLOTS ESTABLISHED IN 1998 WILL BE MAINTAINED WITH THE SAME TREATMENTS IN THE SAME LOCATIONS EVERY YEAR IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE LONG TERM IMPACTS OF TREATMENTS ON WEED, NEMATODE, AND DISEASE CONTROL IN A TOMATO CROPPING SYSTEM. TREATMENTS INCLUDE TELONE C35 AND PEBULATE AND SOIL SOLARIZATION WITH HERBICIDES, METHYL BROMIDE STANDARD, AND UNTREATED CONTROL FOLLOWED BY SPRING TREATMENTS OF DOUBLE-CROPPED CUCURBITS, FALLOW OR MILLET COVER CROP.
