Research Project:
Tropical Cover Crops for Plant-Parasitic Nematode Suppression in Southern Florida
Location:
Nematology Laboratory
Project Number: 1275-22000-203-02
Project Type:
Specific C/A
Start Date: May 01, 2004
End Date: Sep 30, 2005
Objective:
1) Evaluate tropical cover crops for root-knot nematode suppression; 2) measure changes in soil chemical properties, microbial communities and plant chemistry to identify mechanisms of nematode suppression.
Approach:
Conduct microplot experiments involving the incorporation of tropical cover crops in soil infested with root-knot nematode in order to determine effects upon nematode populations, soil properties, microbial communities, and crop yield.
