Objective:
The objective is to develop a prototype for a device that can detect dried plums that contain pits or pit fragments. The device should be a s inexpensive as possible and operate at a speed that will not slow down the current sampling operations.

Approach:
Several approaches will be attempted including x-ray, infrared, laser reflectance, and a mechanincal approach using load cells. The most promising approach will be developed into a prototype device. Documents CRADA with DFA of California. Log 22254. Formerly 5325-44000-004-04T (10/03).
