Objective:
To maintain, characterize, and evaluate the US Gossypium Germplasm Collection.

Approach:
Germplasm will be increased for inclusion into the base collection and distribution to cotton researchers. DNA molecular markers will be developed for characterization of the germplasm to establish relations within the collection and with cultivated cottons. Evaluations will be made of important agronomic traits and fiber properties of unique groups of the collection.
