Research Project: Development of Molecular Markers for Cotton Fiber Characteristics and Entomopathogenic Fungi

Location: Western Integrated Cropping Systems Research

Project Number: 5303-21220-002-01
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Jan 01, 2003
End Date: Dec 31, 2005

Objective:
1) Develop EST - derived SSRs and map their location for improving cotton breeding. 2) Discover SNPs based on existing and new DNA sequences. 3) Develop molecular markers for Beauveria bassiana.

Approach:
Using newly developed techniques, genetic markers will be developed to help identify fiber characteristics in the cotton genome. In addition, molecular markers will be developed to identify specific strains of Beauveria bassiana. Formerly 5303-21220-001-11R (10/04).
