Research Project: Application of Geographic Information Systems to Agricultural Management

Location: Natural Resources Systems Research

Project Number: 6206-13610-005-02
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Mar 01, 2002
End Date: Feb 28, 2007

Objective:
Cooperative studies will be conducted with the following objectives: 1) develop agricultural simulation models and supporting Geographic Information Systems for agricultural production and natural resource conservation, 2) develop improved conservation tillage systems, and 3) develop new knowledge of the fluxes of energy and mass from croplands and rangeland.

Approach:
The research will be accomplished through a collaborative effort involving 1) computer simulation, 2) field measurements of crop production and soil nutrient losses, and 3) laboratory and field measurements of energy and mass fluxes.
