Objective:
To determine the effect of prescribed burning on soil properties and nutrient content in forage species used by sage grouse.

Approach:
Graduate student is undertaking three year study. Year prior to prescribed burn, student collected baseline data on soil and plants including soil descriptions, soil chemical properties, site water infiltration capacity, and plant nutrient content of five species. First and second year following prescribed burn, student will again collect data and compare how post-fire conditions influence soil properties and plant nutrient content.
