Research Project: Development of Potato Varieties Resistant to Multiple Insect Pests

Location:

Project Number: 500-42-001-12
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jul 31, 2000
End Date: Mar 31, 2005

Objective:
1) Selection of clones for release as named varieties. 2) Producing new segregating generations. 3) Measuring yield protection conferred by insect resistance. 4) Analysis of tuber resistance to potato tuber moth.

Approach:
Eighteen clones are in yield and insect exposure trials for the first year and in 200 hill seed plots. The results of the 1999 insect exposure field trials and MEBA assays will be used in selecting clones outstanding for tuber type and yield.
