Research Project: Determination of the Genetic Basis of Verticillium Wilt RESISTANCE...POTATO Clones

Location:

Project Number: 500-42-001-16
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Apr 05, 2000
End Date: Nov 30, 2004

Objective:
To determine the genetic basis of resistance in two Verticillium wilt resistant interspecific hybrids.

Approach:
During the winter of 1999-2000, the resistant clones C287 and C545 will be grown in a greenhouse. In addition, a fertile susceptible clone will be grown. Reciprocal crosses will be made between the susceptible clone and each of the resistant clones. One hundred plants from each family will be grown and asexually propagated via the production of tubers or cuttings.
