Research Project: Determining Critical Temperature Thresholds for Survival of Mycelium of Phytophthora Infestans (Potato Late Blight) Genotypes

Location:

Project Number: 500-42-001-44
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 18, 2003
End Date: Jun 17, 2005

Objective:
Determine critical temperature thresholds for survival of mycelium of phytophthora infestans genotypes.

Approach:
Evaluate survival potential of mycelium of multiple isolates of different genotypes of Phytophthora infestans exposed to temperature in the range 0 to -5C and 30 to 45C in vitro using digital imaging technique; Evaluate survival potential of mycelium from isolates resulting from sexual crosses of A1 and A2 genotypes; Evaluate critical durations of exposure to lethal temperatures.
