Research Project: Integrating Behavioral Control with Reduce Area Treatment Approach for Managing Colorado Potato Beetle and Other Insect Pest of Potato

Location: Insect Biocontrol

Project Number: 1275-22000-202-03
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Mar 01, 2003
End Date: Oct 31, 2006

Objective:
Investigate and develop the use of environmentally friendly attractants in IPM programs for Colorado potato beetle and other potato pests.

Approach:
We propose to develop economically feasible attracticide blends combining Colorado potato beetle plant attractants with low-risk insecticides, determine possible effects of these attracticides on non-target arthropods, such as potato pests other than the Colorado potato beetle and beneficial natural enemies, and evaluate efficiency and economic feasibility of reduced area treatment approach combined with attracticide blends. Our project will fall under the Research category of the NE IPM Program.
