Research Project: Evaluation of Port-Harvest Treatments for Control of Late Blight and Pink Rot

Location:

Project Number: 500-42-001-58
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Apr 05, 2004
End Date: Apr 04, 2005

Objective:
Evaluate the rates at which post-harvest zoxamide and Phostrol treatment are effective in controlling late blight and pink rot; determine the efficacy of zoxamide and Phostrol under different levels of disease inoculum, and determine the maximum time interval from harvest to treatment where treatment is still efficacious.

Approach:
Conduct experiments to determine the rate of zoxamide and Phostrol required to control post-harvest infection of tubers by late blight and pink rot pathogens and to evaluate different levels of the late blight and pink rot pathogens with zoxamide and Phostrol. Evaluate the rates at which post-harvest zoxamide and Phostrol treatment are effective in controlling late blight and pink rot with implementation of a time interval between inoculation and treatment.
