Research Project: Optimization of Designs for Non-Replicated Germplasm Screening Nurseries

Location: Wheat, Sorghum and Forage Research

Project Number: 5440-21220-024-07
Project Type: Specific C/A

Start Date: Jul 01, 2002
End Date: Aug 31, 2006

Objective:
Optimize experimental designs for non-replicated germplasm screening nurseries and other sorghum genetic research.

Approach:
Optimal spatial patterns and densities of checks will be identified for non-replicated germplasm screening nurseries when anisotropy is present or absent in the spatial structure using interactive modeling. The relationship between the average spacing of checks in unreplicated designs and the current efficiency standards will be examined. Statistical support for gene flow research in the U.S. and Africa will be provided. Conclusions will be validated with field data.
