Research Project: Dev. Control Procedures for Blk. Root Rot, Eval Host Tolerance, Yield Potential

Location: Crop Improvement and Protection Research

Project Number: 5305-22000-009-02
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Feb 01, 2001
End Date: Jan 31, 2005

Objective:
Evaluate strawberry cultivars for tolerance to black root rot pathogens in field and greenhouse evaluations. Evaluate cultivar performance in the field when planted into nonfumigated soil naturally infested with these pathogens.

Approach:
Trials will be conducted in a field naturally infested with black root rot pathogens (Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Cylindrocanpon spp.). Cultivars will be evaluated for growth and yield when grown in nonfumigated compared to fumigated fields. Tolerance to individual pathogens will be assayed in greenhouse and field trials. Documents Reimbursable with CA Strawberry Commission. Log 18094. Formerly 5305-22000-008-14R (9/03).
