Research Project: Upper Colorado Saltcedar Control Project: Modeling Beetle Dispersal

Location: Grassland Protection Research

Project Number: 6206-22000-005-19
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Oct 01, 2004
End Date: Aug 31, 2007

Objective:
To develop a mathematical model to describe the spatial and temporal dispersal of Diorhabda beetles released for biological control of saltcedar.

Approach:
The model will build on past models used in other research arenas. It will incorporate field data gathered during the past 4 years of Diorhabda dispersal at release sites at Lovelock and Schurz, NV, and Pueblo, CO, and data from 2004 to 2007 at the present study sites at Lake Thomas and Big Spring, TX, Artesia, NM, and other sites as available.
