Research Project: Post Harvest Treatment Studies in Citrus

Location: Commodity Protection and Quality

Project Number: 5302-43000-032-06
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Nov 01, 2001
End Date: Oct 31, 2005

Objective:
Evaluate the efficacy and practical use of new "reduce risk" fungicides. Evaluate new biological control products and formulations under simulated commercial conditions. Develop novel ways to combine and use old and new fungicides. Evaluate preharvest measures to minimize postharvest decay losses.

Approach:
In 2002 and 2003, continue laboratory tests with Janssen Pharmeceutica's new and promising fungicide PH066. We will examine the impact the mode of application, of heat on its efficacy and residues, the persistence and location of residues, its compatibility with other compounds such as chlorine and other fungicides. Later, if not already accomplished by other CRB-supported projects, we will conduct similar tests with other new fungicides counted. The number of spores required per would to cause an infection will be determined by regression analysis. Documents Trust with Citrus research Board. Log 21220. Formerly 5302-43000-029-06T (10/04).
