Research Project: Estimating Snow Deposition and Melt over Complex Topography

Location: Watershed Management Research

Project Number: 5362-13610-006-07
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Mar 01, 2000
End Date: Mar 01, 2005

Objective:
Develop methods to make accurate estimates of snow-covered-area (SCA) using models and field data. Develop methods to estimate wind effects on snow deposition patterns.

Approach:
Sample snow distribution (depth and density) over high relief basins. Use these data to test snow distribution models. Transfer models as software took kit to USACE. Compare models of varying complexity over Reynolds Creek Experimental Watershed (RCEW) sub-basins. Publish results in journal articles. Documents Reimbursable agreement with Department of Army Log 17537. Formerly 5362-13610-005-05R (9/30)
