Research Project:
Biological Control of Stored Product Insect Pests
Location:
Biological Research
Project Number: 5430-43000-022-02
Project Type:
Specific C/A
Start Date: Aug 15, 2001
End Date: Aug 15, 2006
Objective:
To investigate how augmentative releases of parasitic hymenoptera suppress pest insects in stored products, which will result in better pest management with fewer chemical residues.
Approach:
Research will be directed toward studies of how hymenopteran parasitoids affect the population dynamics of several stored-product insect pests. Studies will include effects of augmentative releases of parasitic wasps in grain bins, mills and warehouses on insect pest populations.
